2019 AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition®
Under the Patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, Kingdom of Bahrain
The AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition® took place and saw teams of undergraduate students develop and construct a car powered by a chemical or biochemical energy source, safely transport a specified weight over a given distance and then stop. The winner of this exciting competition for 2019 was Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Organized by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the 3rd edition took place alongside MEPEC 2019 at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre last 15 October 2019.

This valuable team-oriented, educational experience provides undergraduate chemical engineering students with the opportunity to:

Build a Team. Create a team of chemical engineering undergraduates to compete in the 3rd AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition®. Teams that win first, second and third place will be awarded with the opportunity to compete at the 2019 AIChE Annual Student Conference in the United States.
- Get Creative. Participate in the hands-on design of a small chemical powered model car that will be judged based on how effectively the chemical reaction stops the vehicle, instead of its power or speed.
- Compete at MEPEC. Through participation in the competition teams will also gain access to MEPEC’s Student Conference Program, which includes tailored exhibitions, workshops and networking sessions.
